PENTOLATE contains Cyclopentolate which belongs to the group of medicines called Mydriatic agents. It is used to dilate the pupil of the eye and to paralyse the lens temporarily for performing an eye examination or for preparing the eye for an operation. It is also used to treat uveitis (inflammation of middle layer of the eye tissues) and iritis (inflammation of coloured ring around the pupil of the eye).
PENTOLATE is not recommended for use in patients with glaucoma and paralysis of the intestine. PENTOLATE should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases (such as heart attack, heart failure or angina), enlarged prostate in men, history of ataxia and inflamed or red eyes. PENTOLATE is not recommended for use in pregnant and breastfeeding women, unless advised by your doctor.
