OLOTOP DS EYE DROPS contains Olopatadine which belongs to the group of medicines called Antihistamines. It is used to treat signs and symptoms of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis. Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis is an eye inflammation caused due to exposure of eye(s) towards various allergens such as pollens, dusts or molds etc. Symptoms of seasonal allergic conjunctivitis may include eye redness, itching or irritation with excessive tear production.
Olopatadine is a H1 histamine receptor antagonist. When applied to the eyes, it blocks the release of certain chemicals (Ex. histamines) in the eyes that causes allergic reactions. As a result, it prevents the onset of allergic reactions in the eye and provides relief from the unpleasant symptoms associated with allergic conjunctivitis (such as eye itching, irritation and inflammation).
